The SF Ethnic Dance Festival
a cultural phenomenon
San Francisco's Ethnic Dance Festival produced by World Arts West has grown to be a cultural mainstay in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 33 years of its existence. The festival has expanded greatly over the years, going from one night stands in the city's cultural centers to the Herbst Theater, then the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre and more currently to UC's Zellerbach Auditorium in Berkeley and the Yerba Buena Theater and Gardens in San Francisco. As festival lighting designer for all but one of the 33 years, I've enjoyed the opportunity of working with so many vibrant cultural groups and rare artists who've participated in these festivals. photo credit: Steve Condiotti / 2008 ~ 4th weekend performance at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.
